My Sentimental Son
I've had the same dinnerware set since we got married...almost 12 years ago. I've always loved my dishes but they're definitely showing wear and tear. It's stoneware so almost every piece is chipped and it's starting to look pretty bad. So I've been looking around for a new set and found one I really liked but held off on buying it. Well, this week it came on sale so I just had to go and get it...just trying to be thrifty ya know ;). After a couple of days of having the boxes sitting on the kitchen floor and the boys bugging me to take out the dishes I finally did it tonight. I took all of the old stuff out of my cupboards and set it on the table and my beautiful new dishes took their place. After I was done, I looked at my old dishes on the table and thought "they're actually not that bad...do I really want to get rid of my old dinnerware?". Seth was with me in the kitchen and he's looking at the dishes too and says "are we really getting rid of them....I grew up with those dishes". That made me smile. What 9 year old boy gets sad over dishes?? :) Then I told him they were actually a wedding gift...Daddy and I got them from Grandma and Grandpa and Seth says "my Grandma and Grandpa?!" It was then I realized that I was kind of attached to these dishes as well and I told him I felt really bad getting rid of them when they were a wedding gift from my parents. Well!! Then Seth says to me "why don't you keep one of each to remember". Of course!! Why on earth had I not thought of that?!? After he said it, it seemed obvious that I would keep one place setting as a keepsake. Honestly, if he hadn't suggested it I probably would not have thought of it and I would have kicked myself a thousand times later on. My sweet sentimental Seth...what would I do without him? So now I have one whole place setting set aside and I will have no regrets giving away my old dinner set. Thank you Seth!!

What a sweet boy! I love it! :) Yeay for Seth for saving the day.
I want to see what your new dishes look like! We've had ours for almost 8 years and they are definitely starting to look worse for the wear. nate went through a "throw everything from the dishwasher on the floor and watch it break" stage, so we're down toonly 8 bowls and dessert plates :(
