Hmmm...where do I start? Well, June was
supposed to be a month filled with baseball but we've had almost non-stop rain for about 2 weeks now and we are getting really really tired of it by now. Although...on the positive side, we have very lush, very green and very LONG grass...LOL. AND...I haven't had to water my flowers at all since I planted them 2 weeks ago. We have had occassional sunny periods here and there which we thoroughly enjoy.
Luckily, Jonah's field trip to the zoo ended up being a hot, sunny day. I went along and had just Jonah and his friend Patrick in my group. Then, Pat's dad showed up for most of the day so it was pretty easy ;). We were basically on our own for most of the day...just had to make sure we got in at least 2 of 3 presentations...we learned about elephants and tigers.

Just as we came to look at the tigers, one walked right past the fence in front of us...very cool to see one up close.

A Friday night pizza and movie party:

"Let's see how much popcorn I can shove into my mouth at one time"...

This past weekend we were pretty busy. On Thursday, after Jonah's baseball practice (yes, the rain actually let up enough to get in a practice) we went to the Okotoks Dawgs opening baseball game. The boys loved it. I had to leave early with Jude (he was tired and Trev was tired of chasing him) but Trev and the boys stayed to watch the fire works. We're hoping to get in a lot of games this summer.
It was a late night so luckily the boys had a holiday on Friday. I was looking forward to having the boys home from school but
WOW...were they ever grouchy all day. It felt like all they did was fight. I was thinking ...."if this is what the summer will be like"...HELP!! But I think the weather had a lot to do with it...I was feeling down myself. Anyway...by evening I was VERY ready to get out on my own and was happy to go to Ashley's dance recital. She was so cute...it's very cool to be able to watch my niece's dance performances.
Saturday was birthday party day. I took Sam to Shaker's Family Fun Centre in the morning for a party. I wish I'd had my camera because they had a rock climbing wall and Sam climbed that thing all the way to the top!! I helped him a little the first time and after that he scrambled up that wall about 5 more times. One of the mom's took a couple of pictures and is going to e-mail them to me so I'll post them when I get them. I was pretty proud of him :).
In the evening we went to Colleen and Jerrie's for a party for Matthew, Felisha and Ashley. Their birthdays are all this week....well the last one is today actually. Anyway, Aunt Helen and Uncle Henry were there too and it was a very fun evening.

Sam being his kooky self once again..

Uncle Henry playing with Jude. He's always so good with the boys..they just love him.

A kiss for Daddy...

On Sunday we had the opportunity to go to Spruce Meadows to watch horse jumping. It was a baseball fundraiser. All the different groups and organizations there for the "Catch the Spirit" fundraiser got to participate in the parade and walk around the field. The first half of the day was quite boring for the boys but after the parade they did the long program where the horses did a long course and had to jump 19 obstacles. It was very interesting. Before it started we were able to go onto the field and check out all the different obstacles.

It doesn't matter where he is or how loud it is...once Jude is tired, that's it...he sleeps!! :D

Unfortunately, just as the long course started we saw very dark, ominous clouds approaching. Trev suggested we should get going but the kids were really enjoying it and didn't want to go yet. They said "one more horse"...and then "one more horse"..and then "one more horse". Finally we said it was time to go since it was a long walk to our van. Well, about 2 minutes into our walk it started to come down and after another 2 minutes it was POURING!! By the time we got to the van we were all completely soaked and dripping wet. I just had to laugh... we all looked like a bunch of drowned rats sitting there in the van...LOL. We were going to go to Wendy's for supper after the horse show but ended up driving home first to change out of our sopping clothes. Despite the rain, it was a very fun day.
And today....it rained ALL day yet again so baseball was cancelled ...again...and we had a quiet evening at home. I hope the rain stops soon...sigh...
