A Visit from "Boppy"

On Friday Trev got a call from his Dad that he would be in town on Sunday. So Sunday afternoon he took Seth, Jonah, and Sam and they went to pick him up from the airport. He had dinner and spent the evening here with us.

The boys were thrilled to have their Boppy (Grandpa) come to visit...and were especially excited when he hauled out birthday and Christmas presents from family back home ;). Jude played shy for only a short while and then he was Boppy's little buddy...it was so cute. It was very good for the boys to have some family around again. Now we need Grandma to come and visit too. :)

Seth turns 10!!!

Yesterday was Seth's 10th birthday...10 years since I had that first baby!! A decade!! Wow. Am I really a decade older...oh right...this is about SETH,not me ;).

Birthdays are definitely a little different this year. Seth wanted to have a party with just Colleen and Jerrie's family...and he wanted to play laser tag with his cousins. So that made it easy for me...just book a time and we're set :).

We went to LaserQuest yesterday afternoon and played 2 games of laser tag. Well, everyone played but me, Jude and Colleen (she was kind enough to keep me company while I ran after my very busy 1 year old).

Seth and Matthew getting all geared up.

After their first game they had Seth stand on a chair and we all sang "Happy Birthday". Then everyone got a print-out of their results.

Sam (aka "Bumblebee") placed 3rd during the first game!! We were thinking maybe he's so short that no one saw him coming...LOL.

After a second game, we all came back to our place for pizza buns, veggies, chips, and birthday cake.

Seth absolutely loved his birthday party....and the boys definitely want to go play laser tag again. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY WONDERFUL SON!!!

Sam's thoughts on kissing

Just the other day, I was changing Jude's diapar when Sam walks into the room and states quite matter-of-factly "I'm glad I'm not a girl". I, of course, asked "why?". He says that he wouldn't want to have babies...that would hurt too much. Well, makes sense...I can understand that. But I tell him that it's not that bad...otherwise I wouldn't have had four of them. He says, "but that's because you were supposed to have four...there's four kids in our family so you were supposed to. Ok :).

Then he goes on to say that he doesn't think he wants to get married. I again ask "why not?". He says...then I have to kiss a girl. LOL. "What's wrong with kissing a girl" I ask. He says, "I don't like kissing strange girls". I told him if he marries her, she won't be a strange girl. "Well, I don't like kissing girls...except for you mom". LOL...how sweet is that!! I'm going to have to hold on to that one...that is priceless. In just a few years those sentiments will do a complete 180....and kissing mom will be gross and kissing girls...well, let's not go there yet. :)

His conclusion on the whole "getting married" issue was that he would get married but they just wouldn't kiss. Ok. :)

Halloween

Wow...look at this...two entry's in one week...I'm on a roll!!! ;)

Halloween is definitely celebrated more here than back at home..at least in school, that is. All the students in the school got to carve a jack-o-lantern. The school is divided into what they call "pods", which are groups of different aged classes that stay together as a group for 2 years. So anyway, each "pod" carved pumpkins together and of course each of the boys happens to be in a different pod so I had to go to the school at 3 different times over 2 days to watch the "carving of the pumpkins" :). It was actually a lot of fun to see...and talk about committment from the teachers. Imagine hundreds of pumpkins being carved and the mess that creates...there was pumpkin goo and seeds everywhere. But the end result was really cool...they lined all of the pumpkins up along the hallways on either side. It was a very fun activity for the kids ...the boys had a great time.

Even Jude enjoyed all of the pumpkins. Taking a 1 year old along on a school activity is definitely a wild experience...whew!!

Then on Wednesday, they had a "coin carnival" where they spent the afternoon going to different games and activities set up all over the school.

Seth as "Darth Vador" and Sam as a firefighter. Samuel didn't actually have school that day so we went to the school just for carnival and Seth took him around.

Jonah went as a "crazy guy"...pretty goofy looking. LOL. And that would be Jude's foot in his face (Jonah was holding him...sort of).

Normally, we carve a pumpkin at home and take the boys trick-or-treating but since we don't know anyone in the neighbourhood and it just didn't feel the same we made other plans. Colleen and Jerrie's church put on a "costume carnival" for the children so we went to that instead. The boys had an absolutely fantastic time with their cousins and said "this was the BEST halloween ever!!. And now, of course, they are all convinced that this is the church we should attend. LOL!!

There was mini golfing

Inflatable bouncers and slides

And about 6 TV's with different video games. Seth and Matthew had a great time playing the Wii

There were lots of fun activities for little people like Jude downstairs.
Sam got on to the little train which actually does have a motor that drives but Jude decided to help him along. I think maybe it should be the other way around huh?

Stopping for a snack break. The church provided drinks, popcorn, cotton candy and a bag of candy for each kid.

I was so relieved that the boys had such a fun time...they didn't miss the trick-or-treating one bit. In fact, Sam wanted to go back the next evening. LOL!

And lastly, a little bit of nostalgia...I can't help myself. Look at how much my baby has changed in just one short year....one halloween to the next. It always amazes me.....
